Learning is continuous in the Prison Service. Once you have exited the Scheme, staff within the Leadership & Management Development Team will continue to provide training and development support.

Next you will be promoted to the grade of Trainee Manager F, and posted to your third establishment.

This stage of the Scheme usually lasts for around 12 months and will present you with responsibility for the management, under supervision, of a significant part of a prison. You will receive training in a wide range of core management skills and the technical and operational skills needed to perform effectively as an operational manager.

The goal is to build your expertise to the highest levels, to prepare you for a future beyond the Scheme, as a senior operational manager with the potential to govern your own prison.

This is the final stage of the Intensive Development Scheme and it concludes with written exams and a Job Simulation Assessment Centre leading to full accreditation as a Manager Grade F.
